Problem solved: Moved the whole page to another server.
First to the facts:
again one of my pages went offline for no obvious reasons,
this time it was vspy from 4th to 6th june.
Since that was on a weekend, and we had a holiday on the following monday,
today was the first day i could have tried to contact the support.
I really don't know what was wrong, but it must have been an error of my provider again,
since in FTP everything looked fine.
Now its online again, and if they behave like with the previous offlines on their servers,
i will never know the WHY. I guess they won't even admit there was an offline time, wouldnt be the first time.
For me there's only one conclusion, and that is im gonna move ventrilospy to another of my servers. I will inform you when this happens and try to setup some intermediate page while i am doing this. Wont take me more than some hours.
With all the recent troubles taking away almos every single minute of my sparetime, i had no time for any further needed updates to the pages themself.
I hope this madness will end someday, so i can continue doing work instead of contacting support hotlines and moving pages from A to B.
When i started this thread, ventrilospy was back online again. But shortly after it went offline, now even more fucked up than before. I cant access FTP or the plesk admin panel anymore. Seems like its even more down than it was before. This series of offlines just won't stop, will it?
You can be assured i'm on it.
After some investigation i found out what made all this happen. My provider decided that i am using up too much traffic with VentriloSpy. I know this sounds like a joke but it isnt the first time they did this to me, had the same problem with NanoSpy before i moved to some different hosting.
Phoning or emailing them did no good, although i got "unlimited traffic" as far as the contract says. So they altered their Terms of License and deactivated some php function, which is essential for the project.
Sad, sad stuff. Well, the domain has been cancelled and the page is moving to some other hoster as i type this.
Please don't give up on VentriloSpy yet, the service will hopefully be online in the course of the next days.
Where do i get the ventrilospy homepage
the page you linking i the blog is down
thats exactly what this thread and the two posts above yours say:
ventrilospy is down.
If anyone is interested here are some excerpts of my contact with the telephone support:
Me: "Why did you disable my ventrilospy account?"
Him: "Because your site needed to much resources from our servers."
Me: "Is there any way to see how much resources i am using or how much i have used recently?"
Him: "No, there isnt."
Me: "Makes sense...."
Me: "Do you think i'm asking too much, when i want an email sent everytime you deactivate one of my sites for no reason, since i cant check how much resources i am using up?"
Him: "We don't have to send such emails."
Me: "True. That would be called customer care..."
And maybe the best of em all:
Me: "I have also sent an email to you in which i ask for the redirection of one of my domains to another IP adress."
Him: "When did you send this email?"
Me: "Six hours ago."
Him: "That can't be, all email coming in more than 4 hours ago have been answered."
Me: "Mine hasn't!"
Him: "Then you didnt send an email."
I'm so sick of them. But hey, probably i should be happy they talked to me at all, since last week they hung up on me twice! Yeah thats true: the telephone support crew retards hung up! Go figure...
I love the service you provide with VentriloSpy. Looking forward to having it online again. All the best as you seek to resolve this issue.
Yeah its finally up again, good job, thanks for everything and good luck with your providers in the future :)
Yeah i moved VentriloSpy to my own root-server now.
If anything would go wrong there, it'd be my fault,
but at least i could fix it instaneously.
The only thing i have left to do, is move the domain from bugvanzo to my server, as for now its only redirecting. That won't take too long, and hopefully ventrilospy will only be down for some minutes while i do that.
Thanks for all your care.
Iam getting this error
Warning: popen(/var/www/vhosts/ventrilospy.net/httpdocs/php/vspy/ventrilo_status -c2 -t184.108.40.206:3785,r) [function.popen]: Cannot allocate memory in /var/www/vhosts/ventrilospy.net/httpdocs/php/vspy/nanospy.ventrilo.php on line 350
that shouldnt happen... seriously, but ... damn
was contacting the new hoster to make a server upgrade.
will happen this weekend as far as they told me.
seems vspy needs more resources than i expected.
So what kind of resources does it take? Is it more CPU/memory intensive or it it bandwidth? Just curious...
